The original in-house “Two states: The story of my marriage”

When Jasmine and Mazen got married the previous year in Jaipur, it was a culmination of a well-brewed love story.

The duo got matched on Betterhalf in the end of 2017 and despite of being from two different states of India, they found the spark between their personalities instantly.

“It wasn’t the ideal love story you would believe. We both were each other’s complete opposites. For instance, he was a complete Hollywood fanatic whereas I am a Bollywood drama-queen”, Jasmine added.

Their story boosts the evergreen notion of “female-first” as surprisingly, she was the one who made the first move and messaged him asking about the reason behind his 32-teeth smile in the display picture. Being a social worker and a proficient counselor, Jasmine never believed that a person can actually laugh without any hidden pain until she met Mazen.

“I was going through my AI curated match-of-the-day on Betterhalf when I saw this guy, whole-heartedly laughing. This might sound crazy but I actually found it surprising as I never saw anyone in my life, without any pain behind the fake smiles in the DP’s. Inclined to know the truth, I messaged him “ Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho, kya gham hai jisko chhupa rahe ho.” I am sorry but I am a crazy Bollywood fan!” she chuckled.

On the other side of the screen, Mazen was surprised by the question and was happy to respond back with a smile. The first impressions were made quite well.

“ I was really impressed with her sense of humor in the first text itself. Apart from the usual hey’s and hello’s, this female didn’t even think of leaving sensible impressions, that’s what I liked the most about this chat.” Mazen concluded.

After almost 3 months of 6-hours a day chat, they decided to finally meet each other. Mazen, who was working as a Civil engineer in Bangalore had to take special permission from his boss to grant leaves for 3 days to surprise his girl on her birthday. He pulled off a disco-freezing, Bollywood proposal song along with his five friends who also joined him to Jaipur to be a part of the surprise.

“We guys were really shocked when Mazen told us about Jasmine and how he wanted to get married to this girl. We all were really concerned about his hasty decision and were also surprised as Mazen was always a guy who wasn’t really interested in getting married and who don’t spend time on anyone except himself. Watching him being serious actually got us worried a bit but then we started making plans on the proposal idea and started the choreography for at least a month, after all, what are friends for!” , one of Mazen’s friend recorded.

On the 10th of April, Jasmine wasn’t aware that this birthday would change her life completely. She hosted a party at a club in Jaipur for all her friends. She didn’t have any idea what’s in store for her.

“I remember, I was sipping my iced-tea and enjoying the songs when suddenly the music stopped and this song started. It was a jaw-dropping experience when I saw him proposing me, with his troop to my favorite proposal song: “Main seedhe saadhey dhang se”, from the movie Socha Na Tha. I was shivering with excitement and astonishment together as he finally placed the platinum on my finger.” she exhaled in love. “My life has been a Bollywood movie from the very beginning. I had seen it all, the sufferings, the pains, the harsh realities, but still, I always believed and imagined fairytales and happy endings and he was the combination of both for me.”

To conclude, would you two like to summarise each other, keeping it short?

“He is a video-gamer and a person with a very higher IQ compared to mine. I sometimes feel like a muse in front of him but teasing him for his intelligence keeps me satisfied. I annoy him a lot. Throwing Bollywood dialogues randomly and singing item songs which he despises. On the other hand, he cares for me, he handles my drama every single day and still says he loves me, makes him the best husband anyone could ever wish for. I still don’t believe I am married!” she chuckles again. “I guess that is what makes us a perfectly compatible match which Betterhalf claims.”

“She is like the crazier side of mankind. Whenever I feel low, I just look at her, without her looking, for 2 minutes and she WILL do something weirdly cute that would leave me thanking my stars and Betterhalf.”, Mazen smiled.

Fast forward a year, they both got married and are crazier in love each passing day. Who says two opposites can’t be compatible? Their story reminds of the famous proverb “opposites attract” or in terms of Betterhalf, “AI ne bana di jodi.”
